The collaboration between Puma Acoustics and SISSA in Trieste, one of the national and international scientific centres of excellence in the field of Human Cognitive Neuroscience has recently been renewed.
In fact, new soundproof Eagle Pro booths have been installed at the behavioural testing laboratory of this prestigious institute to conduct tests on healthy volunteer participants, with the aim of investigating human behaviour and the mental processes that determine it.
During these tests, participants perform computer-based tasks in which specific stimuli are presented and their responses are recorded. The nature of the stimuli and responses varies depending on the mental process being studied, such as processing the meaning of heard words, perceiving the duration of a visual stimulus, processing of the emotional content of a video, and language production. Stimuli can therefore be visual (images or videos) or acoustic (sounds or audio recordings), and participants provide their responses using a keyboard or keypad, or through voice productions recorded with a microphone.
The laboratory is equipped with three soundproof booths that allow multiple participants to be tested simultaneously in a comfortable and quiet environment, eliminating interference from external stimuli and noise. The experimental tasks are programmed and administered by operators located outside the booths, using dedicated computers.
A special thanks, therefore, to SISSA for choosing Puma Soundproofing as a partner for the realization of this project, demonstrating the high level and reliability recognized to our soundproof booths in terms of performance, but also of design.
